Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaning – Bletchley, Milton Keynes

The main function of a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is to capture and store soot that is generated by the exhaust in order to reduce emissions from diesel vehicles. DPF’s undergo a process known as filter regeneration whereby the soot that is captured inside the filter is heated to temperatures up to 800 degrees which burns the soot and therefore cleans the filter.

However, if you tend to do a lot of short journeys with stop-start driving, then your vehicle will not reach the temperatures required to burn the soot which causes the DPF to become blocked. Signs that your DPF has become blocked include:

  • Decreased mile per gallon
  • Issues with stop-start
  • DPF light on the dashboard
  • The engine seems less powerful

If you have noticed any of the above, get in touch with MK T & B Centre and we can carry out a full DPF cleaning service at a very competitive price.
